What are sirtfoods?
Sirtfoods contain sirtuin activators (hence the name) and are a group of proteins that control many cell functions in our body. These include our metabolism, the death of cells and believe it or not, our life span. Sound good huh? These anti-ageing elements are not only good for fighting off our wrinkles and weight gain but are also responsible for memory functions and the adaptability of our brain. Cool.

So, the real reason you kept reading this article was because I mentioned red wine and chocolate, two of the best things that have ever been created by mankind, but also two things that are high in sirtuin activators. However, that doesn’t mean you have to now go and comatose yourself with copious amounts of red wine and chocolate, no, no. But, studies suggest that the two can’t be THAT harmful for you either. A glass of wine a day keeps the doctor away, I heard? And of course, when I say chocolate I do mean dark chocolate, so you’re looking at your 70%’s and above. Comprende?
Our beloved chocolate and wine are not the only two delicious foods and beverages that are high in these sirtuins that I keep talking about. Other foods include blackcurrants, kale, olives and extra-virgin olive oil, tumeric, omega 3 fish oil, apples, bloobs (aka blueberries), green tea and many more, but I don’t want to keep listing different foods or we will be here all day, so I’ll stop there.

The sirtfood diet is a great way to boost your immunity all the while feeling a little better about yourself. Notice how most of these foods, blueberries, green tea, omega 3 most of us will already knew how packed they are with immunity fighting warriors and how good they are for our immune systems, now we know even more so the benefits of these foods with relation to other cell activity in our body.

The Sirtfood Diet book, written by Aiden Goggins and Glen Matten, was released earlier this year explaining the benefits of sirtfoods and how to include them in to your diet. After doing studies on various gym goers the pair found that after sticking to a diet with a high intake of sirtuins the participants overall lost 7lbs in 7 days. That’s pretty great. If you’re going out at the weekend maybe you want to try this one so you look damn good in your new dress. The best thing, you don’t have to ditch your morning coffee either, as studies suggest coffee also stimulates the sirtuin cells. This is an overall win win situation for us women who love our wine, coffee and have a sweet tooth for choccie, what’s there to loose? Apart from a couple of lbs…
