The Manchester Christmas Markets have arrived, and they’re as beautiful as ever. The award-winning markets are one of the largest in the UK – and stretching out from Albert’s Square throughout the city, they’re a total wonder to the eye. They arrived a week earlier this year and blessed us on the 10th November and are here until the 20th December, yay! So grab your hats, scarves and gloves, ย and wrap up warm to wander around the enchantingย streets and stalls – taking in the luxuries of the finest chocolates, cheeses, cured meats and fudges, while surrounded by the steaming stalls of XL sausages, crepes and hot pork sandwiches. And of course, you have to be sure to pick up a glass ofย gluehwein, or a baileys hot chocolate, while you browse the stalls of their trinkets, treats, arts and crafts.

You’re sure to find something you love amongst the 350 stalls, pubs and bars. Soak in the festive atmosphere, get merry on german beer or spiced cider, and indulge in the best food you’ll have all year (okay, maybe not all year, we have to give Christmas day some credit).

This year there are so many things to see and do. New this year, we have an ice-rink that has taken over Cathedral Gardens. It’s been transformed in to a festive fairytale, with the glow of the stalls surrounding the rink. Nearby, there’s also a family-friendly area for the kids to play, away from the hustle and bustle of the market stands.

But they’re not just a spectacle at night-time, they’re also great to explore during the day. Only then, can you fully appreciate the old buildings that tower the markets and can you get a real feel for Manchester City Centre, the old and the new. So don’t worry you have no plans this weekend because now you do. Oh, and be sure to collect one of the souvenirs mugs when you purchase any hot drink!

Merry Christmas!
